Assamese film audience have been waiting for a good movie for a couple of years now. But all we are getting to watch are the Assamese Video films which are mainly based on Bihu songs and performances. The Assamese video films are making good business because people want to listen and watch Bihu performances by good Bihu kuwaris (Bihu dancers). But that does not mean that the audience of Assamese cinema do not feel the need of good movies inb Assamese language. It is now hard to believe that there was the golden days of Assamese Films when Filmmakers like Jahnu Baruah, Dr Bhabendranath Saikia, Munin Baruah, etc made movies of outstanding quality and the Assamese movies were runway hits.
