Dr Hemendra Prasad Barooah: Life, works, achievements and great contribution of the Tea Doyen

Hemendra Prasad Barooah has achieved much more in a single life than several generations could have achieved. The Tea Doyen epithet is just befitting when we look at his contribution to Assam economy as a Tea Planter. He  was born in 1926 in Jorhat to a family of Tea garden owners. His father was Shiva Prasad Barooh. One of the pioneers of those who dared to dream big Barooah had acquired an MBA degree from Harvard Business School  in the year 1949.  As per records he has his batch-mates in the likes of  Parker(of Parker pens), Ernie Henderson of Sheraton Group and many others.

Great visionary, noted Assamese Tea magnet Hemen Barooah is no more. The person whose enthusiastic endeavours have inspired a generation of people to take the plunge into choosing business as career, who took Tea gardening and marketing into international level by using his unique business sense and and presented an inimitable example of life greatly, impressively lived has died on 31st July in Bankok.

The new Assamese film that is about to hit theatres in Assam is Duwar: the Voyage Out. This Assamese film is made by noted filmmaker, actor director Bidyut Chakraborty. Most probably after national award  winning movie Raag-Anurag, Duwar is Bidyut Chakraborty's next Assamese film after a long hibernation as a filmmaker.  According to the elated filmamker this project has been a longtime dream coming true now.

Assamese composer director Rupam Sharma's Oscar connection

Rupam Sharma   is nominated for Oscar award in 2011 for his documentary feature film 'In search of God'. This movie In search of God has bagged the award of Best Documentary film in the India Film Festival in Houston. So his work has already received an international recognition and he has created a platform for the rest of rest ie, to cut to nomination for Oscars.  Now the soundtrack and original scores of the movie In search of God is acquired by Oscar Library.
